This week’s gaming news round-up has us mad at Rayman, jumping for joy at the special Vita price drop for PS Vita during Black Friday, and a new Grand Theft Auto V trailer!
Happy Sunday, my darling peeps!
The big news today is that the Wii U is in stores (you might be unboxing it as we speak!). Tempting as it is, I won’t be getting one just yet, so feel free to let me know of the system’s awesomeness 😉
Anyhoo, there were still a lot of things happening this week, so let’s do a quick rundown of some of the gaming news from this past week.
From The Intarwebs & Blogosphere
Snag a PS Vita for Cheap… Kinda — A while ago, Sony announced that they weren’t going to have a major price drop for the PS Vita until well after the holidays. Now it seems they’ve decided, out of the kindness of their hearts, to give the people what they’ve asked for… sorta.
If you are one of those souls brave enough to march into stores November 23 and 24 (the dreaded Black Friday weekend, where crazy deals abound), then you shall be rewarded with $50 off one of the wi-fi only PS Vita bundles (that is, if you’re in the market for one). You’ll be able to nab either the Crystal White Vita/ Assassin’s Creed 3 Liberation bundle, the Black Vita/ Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified bundle, or the black Vita/ Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes bundle for $199.99.
But that’s not all. Sony is also offering a $200 PlayStation 3 bundle which includes a 250GB Hard Drive, a copy of the Infamous Collection (which contains Infamous, Infamous 2, and the Festival of Blood DLC), the Uncharted Dual Pack (which includes Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves), and a free 30-Day subscription to PSN.
That PS3 bundle doesn’t sound too shabby if you’re looking for a secondary PS3. As for the Vita bundles, I’d actually consider getting it, if those offers extend up here to Canada. We technically don’t have Black Friday, but some big stores offer crazy deals around that time too, for the heck of it. Here’s hoping, eh?

You Shan’t Be Watching TVii Yet — One of the intriguing features of the Wii U is Nintendo TVii, which allows you to watch your favourite movies and TV shows via one of three video streaming services — Netflix, Hulu Plus, or Amazon Video On Demand — or your TiVO and already-existing cable service. Unfortunately, those looking to give Nintendo TVii a try out of the box will have to wait, as Nintendo announced that the service won’t be up and running until next month (didn’t specify when, though).
As for the video services, the Netflix app will be available for you to download right now, with Hulu Plus and Amazon VOD becoming available “in the coming weeks”.
Pity it’s not available yet. The whole interactivity bit with TVii would be something cool to show your family what your new system can do out the box. But at least you’ll get a chance to play through your new games quicker 😛

Want Beyond Good & Evil 2? Blame Rayman — Many gamers (myself included) have been waiting — WAITING — for a sequel to Ubisoft’s photojournalistic adventure game of awesomeness, Beyond Good & Evil. We’ve been teased with trailers and artwork, and continuously holding out hope that someday, somehow, we’ll be able to see what happens to Jade, Uncle Peyj, and the gang. Ubisoft head honcho Yves Guillemot revealed that Beyond Good & Evil creator, Michel Ancel, had to put development on Beyond Good & Evil 2 aside so that he could finish work on Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends.
“[Michel] was working on Rayman Origins last year, and he’s working a lot on Rayman Legends this year,” Guillemot told Polygon. “So, you know, when he does that, he kind of puts too much of his time on the other projects that he has.
“[Beyond Good & Evil 2 is] really a game that we’ve been working, we have worked on, and is a game that we want to do. But there are so many things that have to be done that, you know, this one is going to come in line at one point, but at the moment Michel is really on Rayman Legends.”
You guys can’t see it, but I’m throwing my money at my laptop right now, hoping that a copy of Beyond Good & Evil 2 will just materialize in front of me. Why isn’t it working?
In all seriousness Ubisoft, please, please, puh-lease give us more BG&E 2 news. We already know that it won’t be released until the next generation consoles roll into town, but still, it would be nice to have more awesomeness from the game. 🙁
