FANDEMONIUM!: Speed Run — Final Fantasy (NES)

We’re off to restore the light in the Elemental Orbs in record time! Check out this Final Fantasy speed run!

Welcome to FANDEMONUM!, where we do a lot of time travel and gallivanting about to save the world.

Once upon a time, a long time ago (1987, to be exact), a struggling developer called Square decided to put their hats into the ring with one final attempt to make it big. They put all their energy into this final effort, a fantasy game that would make or break their company.

25 years later, and Square is still alive, kicking, and swimming in money. And that small game, Final Fantasy, became a worldwide phenomenon, spanning 13 games in the mainline series, several spin-offs and side games, and even movies!

In Final Fantasy, four youths known as the Warriors of Light, travel around their world to restore the four Elemental Orbs by defeating the four great fiends. From there, they go and beat the snot out of the Big Bad and save the world. Yay!

Speed runner Benoit Alain got through the entire game in about 4 hours. In one sitting.

Final Fantasy — Best time: single-segment 3:50 by Benoit Alain on 2010-06-02
